Why Tech Feels Hard (And Why It Isn't Your Fault)

By Michael Williams

Most people assume they should already “get” technology. So when something feels confusing or overwhelming, they blame themselves. The truth is simpler: tech rarely explains itself well. And you were never given a clear mental model to make sense of it.

That ends here.

Tech Untangled exists to help you feel confident and in control of the tools you use every day. Not by throwing jargon at you, but by giving you a way of thinking that makes everything feel lighter and more understandable.

The Real Problem: Noise, Not Ability

Most apps and devices were designed around features, not people. Options stack on options. Settings hide inside menus that hide inside more menus. Before long, even smart, capable people feel lost. I'll be the first to admit I've thrown my phone across the room in frustration.

You’re not behind. You’re just operating in an environment that was never built with you in mind.

Once you understand that, the pressure comes off. Confidence grows. Clarity follows.

A Simple Habit That Makes Everything Easier

Before you try to learn a new tool, pause for ten seconds and ask one question:

What is this actually trying to help me do?

Not what every button does. Not what you “should” know. Just the purpose.

When the purpose is clear, the controls finally make sense. You make decisions instead of guesses. You feel in control instead of catching up.
